Comparative scientific studies (1) showed that acetate was perceived
as considerably more comfortable (less sticky, less clammy, less
damp, etc.) to transfer moisture better than polyester. In addition
acetate linings felt lighter weight, although it is considerably
heavier in weight. Linings made out of acetate allow the garments
to 'breathe', by providing a moisture absorptive layer, they
provide a barrier for perspiration and body oil and feel light and
soft to the skin.
So it's no surprise that everyone living in tropical, humid climate
is aware of the difference acetate makes to the comfort of the wearer.
GAMA has asked people in different locations about their opinion
on acetate. Here some of the answers we have received from people
singing the praises of clothes lined with acetate or made of fabrics
of acetate: | |

"Moving to Hong Kong's tropical climate, I figured out pretty quickly that acetate is the fabric to wear. It's the only one that really breathes!" Hong Kong, China

"I was in Atlanta for business at the end of July which must be the hottest and most humid period of the year. I had two suit jackets with me for my official meetings. I quickly noticed a big difference simply in wearing these jackets. One made me feel much more comfortable in getting through the Atlanta heat. I didn't know why that was until I found out that that particular vest had acetate lining in it. From now one I will only take my suit jackets that have a acetate lining for going to very hot places!" Atlanta, USA

"Between April and September temperatures in Dubai can reach up to 50°C and very high humidity levels. When I first arrived I was wearing my suits and pants I used to wear in Europe and I have never paid any attention to the fabrics they were made of. I felt very uncomfortable and only when I asked my colleagues how they could stand the heat without transpiring I learned that the trick were acetate linings. From that day on I am only
buying suits with acetate linings, because it really makes a difference!" Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Often
the wearer is not aware why he feels more comfortable in one garment
than in another. The majority would link the uncomfortable feeling
automatically to the respective label, while only a few people would
actually try to find out the reasons. Buyers should take this aspect
into account and should be aware that when they decide for les expensive
options, they risk that their product will be perceived as uncomfortable
even without the wearer knowing why. Whereas a buyer deciding for
acetate can always be sure that he has decided for the most comfortable
option and the wearer will associate comfort with the respective
label.

For your customers who care about our environment, and isn't that everyone, natural acetate is a manmade fibers that is environmentally friendly. Recently GAMA has published a Fact Sheet on Comfort and Environment, which illustrates acetate's "Green" eco properties. Acetate is made from a natural raw material, cellulose. Acetate manufacturing is a closely controlled process that is very environmentally friendly.
